Turns out the Illinois Secretary of State doesn't have veto power over the governor's appointment to a vacant U.S. Senate seat.

Duh.

Man, Harry Reid doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. He's been outmaneuvered by ROD BLAGOJEVICH for crying out loud. It could be weeks, months, before Blago even gets indicted.  It could be a year, longer, before he gets convicted, if he gets convicted.  Meanwhile, Senate Dems are shorthanded while trying to enact socialism. In America! Which is hard!

I think Sen. Reid will spend a day or two trying to save face, then claim "negotiations" went well and just seat Roland Burris.  In this ADD-land of ours, six months from now nobody will remember the TAINT anyway.
